I've been saying this for years. We have lots of land for greenhouses whereby Canadian companies can grow food year-round and reduce dependence on foreign counties. Can be powered also with solar and wind to offset energy costs. It also creates work locally. Thank-you Haven Greens for setting the example to all.
Thank you Haven Greens! This is the best lettuce I have ever eaten and what makes it even more delicious is that it’s produced in Ontario, Canada.
I just happened to see this in Costco and noticed it was not only from Canada, but locally produced, so I decided to try it. I was totally impressed with the taste and quality, so I have switched to this. The salad starts out and stays nicely crisp and has a unique and pleasant taste. After struggling with soggy spring mix imported from USA this is a welcome change. And watching their video on LinkedIn was very impressive! This is the type of innovation in the production of perishable foods that we need in Canada to be more self-sufficient and reduce transportation.
Tried the new Trillium Blend Lettuce from Haven Greens at Costco, and it’s hands down the best salad mix I’ve ever bought — and that’s saying a lot. I was a huge fan of Queen of Greens (also available through Costco), which set a pretty high bar for freshness and flavour (vs anything that I bought from Loblaws, Sobeys etc), but this one actually tops it. The mix is perfectly crisp, vibrant, and incredibly fresh. There’s a subtle mustard green or similar leaf in the blend that adds a beautiful, slightly peppery bite, absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality in every bite. Haven Greens really nailed this one. I’ll definitely be stocking up every time I see it!
Just tried Haven Greens baby spring mix - WOW Delivered by Voilá grocery delivery. Greenhouse grown in Ontario, no pesticides, no need to wash and so fresh and crisp! Love these greens!! Highly recommend *****
I saw their future in Citynews regarding being a fully automated greenhouse. this is a good idea especially to lessen the need for temporary foreign workers and the side effects of having temporary workers like increased housing needs and so on. we need more humanity to return to Canada housing families affordable everything including food everywhere. of course there are side effects of having more automation
